The 'No White Foods' Diet

There are many diet plans out there today, and the remarkable thing about a lot of them is how complicated they are. Gone are the days of just counting calories. Today's diet plans come complete with a theory, a philosophy, a broad diet plan, and rehearsal plan, and, more than likely, products that you can buy. In a way, that's a good thing - it means that the theories behind these diets have been well plan out, and that the diets themselves are likely to promote good condition as well as weight loss. On the other hand, there are some pitfalls to having and trying to effect a complicated diet plan - namely, it's complicated and can be hard to follow!

How many of us nothing else but have time to learn a complicated new way of eating? If you have to lose fifty or a hundred pounds, and your weight is severely affecting your condition and wellbeing, you might be able to by comparison the time and expense. If it's a matter of wanting to lose five, ten or twenty pounds, however, how likely are you to subscribe fully to a whole new way of eating? Not very likely, is the answer!

Chipotle Recipes

So here, then, is a quick, easy solution to your weight loss needs, if you are in need of a 'quick' fix that doesn't wish too much thought. Just stop eating white foods. It's as simple as that. If it's white, don't eat it.

Of course, there is one celebrated irregularity you may want to make: Milk. Milk is white, and, especially if you're a woman, pregnant, or still growing, it may be detrimental to give up milk even for a short time. So let's modify that advice a little: no white foods that are solid. Or even, if you like, no white starches.

That's what it nothing else but comes down to. If you do away with all the white starches - white pasta, white rice, potatoes - and replace them with whole grain choices, over time, you are roughly guaranteed to lose weight. This isn't like the Atkins plan, that asks you to give up most carbohydrates. You can still eat brown rice, for example, and whole wheat bread and pasta. The white starches are refined, and they have the highest glycemic index. That means that they might cause insulin insufficiency over time - they can even lead you to fabricate diabetes in the long term. In the short term, these white starches cause you to pack on the pounds - especially nearby your belly, which is the worst potential place to carry excess weight in terms of heart health.

If you want to go a dinky further with this plan, and lose weight a dinky more quickly, try giving up another type of white foods - fats that are solid at room temperature. This means no butter or margarine (technically, butter is white, not yellow - dairy clubs dye it yellow to make it more appealing!) and no cheese (most cheese is white - and giving up white cheese doesn't mean you should bulk up on cheddar!). Cutting out these high fat foods - particularly if they happen to be an 'issue' for you - will let you lose weight a lot faster.

Of course, there are some white foods that are nothing else but good for weight loss. Think lean white chicken breast, for example, or white fish such as cod or halibut, or even egg white (the leanest part of the egg)! There is nothing much to be gained by avoiding those foods, and over the long term, you probably shouldn't. The point of the 'no white foods' diet, though, is to give you a simple method that you can apply anywhere. In a bistro or at a extra event - no qoute - eat what you want, as long as it isn't white! There are no points to count up, no rules (except that one) to remember.

And here's the secret advantage - if you're not eating any white foods, it leaves more room for 'colorful' foods that aren't white - vegetables, for example, particularly yellow, orange and dark green ones. These are much healthier for your heart and, indeed, your whole body than their white equivalent, potatoes and starch. Not all white foods deserve to be avoided, but the benefits of this simple and efficient arrival can be great nonetheless.

Cowboy Dip

Cowboy Dip

Ingredients:

Chipotle Recipes

4-ounces Diced canned tomatoes, drained,

8-ounces Cream Cheese, softened,

2-tablespoons Mayonnaise,

2-tablespoons Sour Cream,

¼-cup Black Olives, chopped,

¼-cup Green Olives, chopped,

¼-cup Red Onion, chopped,

¼-cup Pecans, chopped,

¼-teaspoon Salt,

¼-teaspoon Pepper,

Dash Tabasco,

4 Chipotle peppers, chopped, optional.

Instructions:

Stir together cream cheese, mayonnaise, and sour cream in a medium bowl until well blended. Stir in diced canned tomatoes, chopped black olives, chopped green olives, chopped red onion, chopped pecans, salt, pepper, Tabasco, chopped Chipotle peppers and mix well. Refrigerate for a combine of hours to blend flavors together. Serve at room temperature with crackers, chips, flatbread or veggies.

Dip makes about 2½ cups

Note: The Chipotle peppers ads the smoke flavor and really causes your taste buds to come alive. If you prefer green chilies, but like the smoke flavor just add the green chilies along with a teaspoon of liquid smoke flavoring or use Chipotle Tobasco. If you don't like pecans just add your favorite nut. I have changed this method up some separate ways, but my house and friends like it this way the best.

You can find this method along with many more and other products at http://www.cristiescookin.com. Be sure and submit your favorite method of the month and you could win a free "Gotcha Covered" apron.

A straightforward Meat Rub You Can Make Yourself

You may have noticed a wide collection of "dry rubs" ready at grocery stores and specialty food stores lately. These fragrant combinations of herbs and spices add texture, color, and, of course, flavor to all things from steaks to chicken. Sometimes though, the industrial rubs are very salty and many include Msg, which may give some population a headache. So why not try to make your own dry rubs with whatever herbs and spices you have in your pantry or spice rack?

Try this basic rub which is enough for about 10 steaks.

Chipotle Recipes

Basic Steak Rub

1 tsp. Chili powder

1 tsp. Salt

1 tsp. Garlic powder

2 tsp. Paprika

3 tsp. Cinnamon

4 tsp. Brown sugar

2 tsp. Oregano

3 tsp. Ground cumin

Combine the ingredients in a large, shallow baking dish. Place one steak in the dish and moderately pat it down to coat the bottom side of the meat with the rub. Flip the steak over to coat the other side. moderately rub the compound into both sides of the meat.

Repeat the process for each steak. Let the steak rest for about an hour or so, coated with the rub, then grill as usual once the steaks are at room temperature.

Note: Throw away any of the leftover rub that came into touch with the raw meat.

Serving the Steaks: Serve steaks without steak sauce since it will overpower the rub and you will only taste the steak sauce.

Other Herbs & Spices To Try In Rubs:

Marjoram, basil, thyme, rosemary, oregano, lemon pepper, dry mustard, celery salt, red pepper flakes, Chipotle powder, etc. - experiment until you get just the right compound of ingredients for your version of the perfect rub.
